Important (and painful) news about our project in Haiti
Dear members, donors, partners, and friends of our organization,
It is with a heavy heart that we share this news about our project to support and build the Modestie School in Haiti.
For many months (even years), the security and humanitarian situation in Haiti has continued to deteriorate. Today, this deep crisis is having a direct and severe impact on our project.
A Difficult but Necessary Decision
Luna’s family, who had so courageously carried on this school, was forced to flee Cabaret in a hurry to protect their lives in the face of extreme violence from gangs that had arrived in their town. Faced with this force majeure situation and the impossibility of guaranteeing anyone’s safety on the ground, we must face the facts:
The project to build and support the school is currently on hold.
The top priority today is ensuring the family’s safety. We are in contact with them and are doing everything we can to provide them with emotional support during this terrible ordeal of forced exile.
What happens now?
It is highly unlikely that the project will be resumed at this time, as we see no improvement on the ground.
All funds have been allocated to the work that has already been carried out and have been halted immediately.
Our commitment remains unwavering: This sudden halt is heartbreaking, but it does not undermine our determination to work toward ensuring access to education. We are adapting to this sad reality and remain attentive to the needs of our Haitian partners.
We would like to thank you warmly for your trust, your generosity, and your unwavering support since the beginning of this journey. We will be sure to keep you informed as soon as we have reassuring news about the family and how the situation is developing.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly via our contact form or by email.
With our deepest gratitude,

We have the power to impact their future and we are taking action
“Timoun” means “child” in Creole.
The goal of Association Timoun Haiti is to help children in the community of Cabaret receive an education and thereby offer them a better future.
Our project is to support the small school École Mixte La Modestie, located northwest of Port-au-Prince in the town of Cabaret.
It was created in 2014 by Massé Dieudonné, pastor of his community, who could not resign himself to have the children of the neighborhood playing in the streets all day without receiving an education.
With the help of his community’s people, he coordinated the construction, out of wood and corrugated iron, of the small school. There are currently two small structures, one of which also serves as a church…
